JV Giveaway Rating System?

With so many giveaways listed on NewJVGiveaways.com. How do you determine which ones are the best to join?

I came across this question in a Warrior thread about JV Giveaway events, and it got me thinking…
Maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to add some sort of rating system to the list of events.

  • The list of events grows bigger and bigger each week. I assume most people don’t have time to join all these giveaways. A rating system could help them pick the most interesting ones.
  • Let’s face it - there are several low quality giveaways around. A rating system might motivate some giveaway managers to put in a little more effort when they set up an event.

Still, I have some thoughts…

What makes a JV Giveaway a quality event? There are so many factors to consider: the number  and quality of gifts, the membership price, the entire look & feel of the site, the money you can earn by promoting the event, referral contest prizes maybe,…

I also think such a rating system needs to be solid and explicable - guaranteed I will receive questions about why a certain giveaway has a lower rating than another one…

If I decide to do it, I also need to consider whether I will be the one rating the events, or if I will let the the public do it. Since that would make the rating system open for everyone, I think it can be manipulated easily…

You see, the idea still needs a lot more thought…

Feel free to let me know what you think!

  1. It would seem that you would need to rate the person or persons hosting the sale rather that the sale itself. You really could not rate the sale until it was over. Thus next time the person hosted a giveaway, even with a different name, you would have some idea of how that person has done in the past.

  2. Hi Mieke,

The main factor for rating a giveaway would be who is running it
and their ability to recruit contributors with large responsive list.
What I look for from a giveaway is how many new subscribers I will receive.

  3. a review script would work well for this. You could review the giveaway and then your readers would also be able to review it.

You could break it down to different areas. Look, Cost, Amount of contributors, and gifts offered.

Has some potential but would require some work on running it and keeping up with all the giveaways out there. Most are not worth the time though.

  4. Do you have 2 posts about this? I thought I left a comment already.

I think it would be good, especially if you could really get accurate stats. The biggest thing I hate is you have to decide whether to buy the OTO before you even see how many contributors there are, or what quality of gifts, or who’s involved in it.

That would almost be worth a monthly fee to get the insider info before you even sign up.

I have seen a review site on giveaways. I don’t remember where, but he had that same issue. Some of the big ones said “Highly Recommended”, but most didn’t have a rating until after they had launched.

Well, just got to say I’ve been following you for awhile and you don’t ever get boring. Every time I check into one of your sites, you’re putting out something new. I couldn’t think of a better person to do this. B)>
